I’m happy to announce that the core team has invited John Woeltz (@joltz / @j01tz) to join the team, and he has accepted.
John has been making worthwhile contributions to the project since well before launch, having set up our first security audit. He has since continued to improve protocol security, most recently as the leader of the newly formed Security team. Throughout his contributions, he has been a patient communicator, balanced and measured in his writings and interactions with other contributors. John is consistently constructive, responsible, authentic. He’s a force of positive change.
This is the first time a member is added since the departure of Ignotus. Where does it end? What’s the role of the core team? Should all the dedicated people of the project be added? What does the current governance structure mean for centralization, and what are the alternatives? We’re thinking about these questions, and we don’t have good answers yet.
But we do look forward to figuring out how we can improve further, together with John’s help.
Congrats to joltz. Nice guy who’s helpful and contributed. But this speaks volumes about the core and how they do business. I wish the core paid this kind of respect to the only person to provide an open source mining pool or any of the three people to provide GUI wallets to the community that the core largely ignores. The core certainly asks David to do a lot for how disrespectful they are to him.
My first thought was that your account got hacked @tromp, only a quick search shows it is all over the news. I still have a hard time believing it.
…this is so sureal that it might be turned into a movie.
What a f’ed up and sad story. The Italian guy made it out after two weeks, a stay which may have kicked off with a cool party. After all, is two weeks not sufficient time to get the info they needed? This Italian guy must have big brass balls.
The AirTag around the Italian’s neck is an insane and idiotic detail, plus Johns’ arrest in his dressing gown smacks of American Psycho.
I’d ask about Grin’s interview policy but I’ve made enough jokes which I wouldn’t have made if Luigi had been killed. But he’s out of that nightmare, thank God, and John is all the way up shit creek without a tooter.
I see the news, it is hard to believe it is a pity that this OC member has embarked on the path of crime.
The news reports further linked Grin to the criminal figures,Good people can do wrong things, and bad people do good things.Contribution to the development of GRIN, the community should be recognized; If you have sinned, you will be punished. There is no contradiction between the contributor and the developer
hi guys - I’m a reporter for New York Magazine working on a story about Woeltz. If anyone feels like speaking to me about their interactions with him over the years, feel free to drop me a line at ezramarcus2@gmail.com, I can keep anything you have to share anonymous. thanks!
hi, EzraMarcus , I mined grin from 2022,and join this grin forum half year ago, welcome to our community! I don`t know john Woeltz and never Never contacted or met him,I want to say
1.Please report independently and impartially,Please do not link grin with aggravated crime.John Woeltz’s crime is a personal act and has nothing to do with the grin community.
2.The Grin community condemns violent crime,Community leaders can’t even believe it’s true。
3.Grin Coin supports and defends human freedom and justice,Grin Coin is a Bitcoin-like asset, please give positive coverage.
@EzraMarcus There are plenty of people who had way more contact with Joltz than I had. I can only say that any “criminal behavior” appears to be out of character for him. Also one thing to ponder, why would anyone who has plenty of money try to extort someone for money? The only motif I can think of is if that person would have duped him out of money first. Again, I hardly knew him, just some thoughts. He had little to do with Grin in revent years…the last time he visited this forum was in December 2021.
